Your generous support of the Waverly Public Library Foundation helps fulfill our mission of enhancing and enriching our Library’s programs, services, and facilities.
Your Gift Matters
There are many ways to support the Library, from general donations to gifts designated for a specific purpose. You may also give in honor or memory of a loved one, contribute to the Endowment Fund, support the Friends of the Waverly Public Library, or take advantage of employer matching gifts.
The Library thrives because of generous community support, but there is always more to do to ensure it remains a vital resource for future generations. Your tax-deductible gift helps keep the Library strong and growing.
You can donate online as a one-time or recurring gift, or download a Gift Form to mail or deliver to the Library. However you choose to give, your support makes a difference in our community every day. Thank you!

1. Unrestricted GiftsList Item 1
The most versatile gift is one that can be directed to where it’s needed most. Unrestricted gifts provide critical funding for the Library and its collections, programs, and services.

2. Designated GiftsList Item 2
You may have a specific area of the Library in mind for your gift. Designated gifts might be named to go toward a specific project or program, the bookmobile, the gardens, or a special Library campaign. It’s up to you.

3. Honorary and Memorial GiftsList Item 3
Donating in honor or memory of someone has special meaning. A gift to the WPL Foundation to recognize family, colleagues, or friends is a beautiful tribute and a way to celebrate the lives of those you love and respect.

4. Gifts of EndowmentList Item 4
A separate WPL Library Endowment Fund has been established as an affiliate of the Community Foundation of NE Iowa. Donations to the endowment provide a lasting legacy, with earnings used to support the Library.

5. Planned Gifts
You may wish to include the Foundation in your estate planning. Planned gifts help ensure the Library continues to provide free access to excellent collections, technology, and programs for years to come.

6. Gifts of Friendship
You may also wish to donate to the separate Friends of Waverly Public Library organization. Friends donations and purchases in the Friends Used Bookstore provide critical support for collections, programs, and more.

7. Matching Gifts
Employee matching gift programs are corporate giving programs in which a company matches employee donations to an eligible nonprofit. By taking advantage of matching, you can easily double your contribution to the Library.
Monetary gifts to 501(c)(3) charitable organizations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Visit with your financial advisor to learn more. All donations will be used by WPL for the highest and greatest need. WPL retains the right to accept or deny all contributions. Periodic recurring gifts (i.e., monthly, quarterly) can be made by a credit card via the website giving page.
When should I give directly to the Library?
If your gift is for upcoming Library activities, like prizes for the summer reading program or other short-term needs, you may want to give to the Library rather than to the WPL Foundation. In these cases, your gift is simply held in reserve and used when the time is right.
Is there a Library Endowment?
Give to the EndowmentYes. A separate Library endowment has been established with the Bremer County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of NE Iowa. Donations to the Library’s endowment are invested strategically to preserve their original value and generate income, and are managed by Marquette Associates. Income generated from the endowment is then used to help support Library projects funded by the WPL Foundation. Click here to learn more.
Do you accept non-cash donations?
Yes. In addition to cash donations, the Library Foundation can also accept transfer of a qualified charitable contribution (QCD) from your IRA. And, the Library can consider gifts of non-cash assets such as appreciated stock or real estate. Contact the Waverly Public Library if you want to learn more.
Should I also give to Friends of the WPL?
Friends of the WPLIf you can, yes! Along with the Foundation, the Friends of the Waverly Public Library provides another way to support the Library through small cash donations and by purchasing used books and games in the Friends Bookstore. Gifts to Friends of WPL then go toward support for a wide range of Library programs – busing children for Library visits, early literacy, adult learning, and so much more.
