BUILDING A COMMUNITY CENTER

No matter what the need, the Library provides the one free public space open to everyone. But as more people return to the Library post-pandemic, meeting and study rooms are becoming harder to find. And with the growing popularity of book clubs, do-it-yourself programs and community events, the Library needs more space for people to come together.

People who work or study remotely want more access to Wi-Fi and computers. Today, during busy times, adults often feel like they have to compete for computer space with groups of children or teens.

Your Make Room for Renewal gifts will renovate and add study rooms and update worn finishes in the large rooms used for an increasing diversity of events. Sound mitigation will be explored to minimize noise between rooms. More space to read and learn will be incorporated throughout the building, with more computer access for all ages. Your gift will support the entire community.

There is a hunger in this digital age to hear authors together, to participate in programs, to just be in a place, a community space.

Public libraries are the sole
community centers left in

Board games, card games, toys, puppets, dolls, blocks, Dungeons and Dragons, Magna-Tiles, LaserTag, Minecraft, Nintendo Switch, Nerf, Wii, sports equipment, chess, checkers and Legos. And that doesn’t begin to cover all the items available for check-out or use inside today’s community Library. Virtually all of these materials are new in the last 25 years.

Your support of Make Room for Renewal will make more space for these diverse and growing collections, with something for everyone to enjoy. The Library will remain a vibrant and welcoming place for all.

We do not stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing.

Benjamin Franklin

On any given day, you might find people in a role-playing game, in chess league or a trivia tournament, or playing with Legos, video games, puzzles and toys. It’s absolutely amazing.
